Wizard of Oz mini playfields

The Witch's Castle and Munchkinland mini playfields

Jersey Jack sent a direct mail piece out to those who have pre-ordered the Wizard of Oz pinball. It shows two of the mini playfields that will be included on the pinball. The first is Munchkinland which features Dorothy’s spinning house and a loop shot. The other is the Witch’s Castle playfield. Each playfield feature a singular flipper (perhaps where the “slipper flippers” will be integrated?). Witch’s Castle also features a R-E-S-C-U-E spot targets, pop-out hole and loop shot with possible spinner.

More information about the ideas behind the game layout have emerged as well. Jersey Jack’s goal is to have the cabinet represent the story of Wizard of Oz in a somewhat linear fashion. The left side is the “bright and cheery” side and moves towards the backbox — following the yellow brick road. As it loops back from the backbox the right side becomes much darker (as you can see below).

As you can read from the Jersey Jack quote below, more information will be coming out next week.

Jerry wanted to tell the story beginning with the left side of the cabinet at the flipper button, in bright and cheery, Munchkin land. As your eye moves along the image from the front of the cabinet to the back, you are further into the story and on the Yellow Brick Road moving up the back box, a much darker aspect of the story emerges. The story continued onto the other side of the cabinet backbox and right cabinet side. Next week JJP will be revealing the right side of the cabinet where this story of The Wizard of Oz will come full circle.

Finally we have some of the right cabinet and front panel artwork to show (still “Kansas”-cized, however).
